Our Story
Over the past 10 years we have held residencies at some of Manchester's most famous venues including the Night & Day Café, 42nd Street, Band On The Wall, Blind Tiger as well as appearances at festivals such as Dot To Dot and Kendal Calling. We have also DJ'd alongside and at shows for artists such as Blossoms, Courteeners, The Cribs, The Maccabees, Mystery Jets, Dua Lipa, and Johnny Marr to name a few. As well the clubnights and festivals, we have DJ'd at hundreds of weddings, and private and corporate events for all occasions.
Rock 'n' Soul Events was created when we realised that there was a lack of non-cheesy wedding DJs out there playing the music that we love so we wanted to change that.
What We Do
We provide the full soundtrack to your night using professional sound and lighting systems. We believe that looking the part is just as important as the music that is played which is why we have built a bespoke DJ booth to enhance the look and feel of your wedding.
We are big music fans and have a particular passion for indie, rock 'n' roll, funk, soul, motown, and the finest party classics from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s.
We are enthusiastic in what we do however we are not your cheesy wedding DJ. We will not be talking over your favourite songs or telling jokes but we will ensure that we cover all of your introductions and formal announcements as required throughout the night. We like to let the music do the talking!
Requests
We like to work with people that love music and are keen to provide the tunes that you and your guests are really into, which is why we will ask you to provide a list of songs and artists that you like prior to the event. This helps us to gain a good understanding of the music that you are into and helps us to ensure that you hear all of your favourite tunes on the night.
We are also happy to receive requests from guests on the night which we will endeavor to play as long as they fit in with the theme of the night. You can also send us a 'Don't Play List' of any songs which you don't want to hear. Sometimes your guests will have musical tastes which differ to what you want from your night.
Your list of songs helps us to get started however we are good at reading a room and mixing in appropriate songs around any requests which help keep the party going for the duration of the night.
Our Style
Couples spend a lot of time and effort making sure that the aesthetics of their wedding are bang on, which is why we come suited and booted to fit in with your guests.
Timings
A typical DJ set would be from 7pm to midnight but we are flexible if this needs to be adjusted. We require 60 to 75 minutes to carefully and safely setup our equipment. This includes loading the equipment into the venue, setting up the DJ booth, speakers, lighting, mixer, controller, fog machine etc, as well as checking the sound levels. We ensure that any cables are neatly tucked away or taped the floor for safety reasons, and to ensure that the setup looks neat and tidy. We also need to quickly get changed once setup is complete so that we are dressed appropriately for the evening. Typically we would setup discreetly whilst your guests have dinner so that your party is ready to get started once the meals have finished. If you would prefer us to setup early so that we don't interrupt any proceedings then we can do that where required subject to venue and availability.
